Own Furniture? Protect Your Investment!

Posted by admin on June 18th, 2008

How much did you pay for your furniture? I’ll bet it wasn’t cheap. Most people spend thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars to furnish their homes and then forget about it, leaving all of their furniture, carpets and floors to waste away over time.

You would never go to the beach without u/v protection, would you? Everything in your home is exposed to low-levels of u/v light all the time and it can’t regenerate the way your skin can. It doesn’t have any way to protect itself. Most people never think about this and so the money they invested in making their home beautiful slowly goes to waste, pennies at a time as their carpets, leather sofas and wood floors fade, scuff and dry out.

Proper furniture care is difficult to define. Standard furniture polish you can find in the supermarket can make your coffee table shine like new and also offers some short-term protection against small scuffs and scratches, but don’t address the long-term issues, of which u/v light is at the forefront. Even at the low-levels you’ll find in an average living room, over time it is extremely damaging to everything it touches that is made of wood, leather or fiber. (more…)

We live in a day and age where time is available only at a premium. People suddenly don’t find enough time to spend with the vital aspects of their existence. For instance, parents find themselves at odds with their children due to the lack of quality time spent with them. But the adults are not the only ones at fault. The problem lies with the fast-moving world where technology developments mean increasing workloads and constant movements from one place to another. Relocation means not only bodily relocation but peripheral relocation also. Your favorite furniture also needs to be constantly shifted. Here lies the problem because it may not be entirely feasible to move your exquisite Amish made furniture every time the work demands relocation. The solution lies with ready-to-assemble furniture.

The instant furniture, as it can be so easily called, is the solution to your cup of relocation woes. The ready-to-assemble furniture generally comes in three pieces. Its main USP is the ease of transportation. Usually fastened with modified screws, the instant furniture is easy to assemble, dismantle and handle. Your life becomes more simplified by the do-it-yourself pieces, which when joined, transforms into a unique furniture article. (more…)

Lift Chairs - Moving On Up

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2008

Lift chairs are used for a variety of uses, generally to make moving from one location to another easier. They are also used to help someone be able to get in and out of a chair with ease. Many elderly and those who suffer from arthritis or limited mobility find lift chairs to be the answer to being able to get around easier.

Power lift chairs have a built in motor that changes the position of a seat from sitting down to a complete upright position. These electric lift chairs are specially designed to prevent them from folding down on the individual or tipping over. Most lift chairs have two positions, upright and sitting down. Electric lift chairs can generally hold weight up to 375 pounds. Special chair lifts can be made for heavier individuals.

A newer design on the market is the three position lift chair. They are deeper and wider than the two position lift chairs. The additional position is called the napping position, which is a fully reclined position. The weight limit is the same as that of the two position lift chair.

Sunroom furniture is essential in any sunroom though whether the room is exposed to bad weather or not will determine which furniture you should purchase.

Sunrooms can be a particularly attractive asset to any home and they can be enjoyed both in summer and in winter. Providing a place to relax and enjoy the sun, you can easily entertain friends and family or just sit and read whichever you prefer. However, in order to do either of those things you need to have the right sunroom furniture. So just what should you look for when selecting your sunroom furniture?

Choosing the Right Sunroom Furniture

In order to enjoy the sunroom you do need the right furniture to make it both look and feel nice within the room. As a seller of office chairs, I am frequently asked by my customers about computer chair designs and what posture is the best for sitting. Some of these workers have been given a very high-end ergonomic custom-made chair at their office and are wondering if there is really any difference between it and your standard task chair. Some people complain about the curvature of some guest side or reception lounge chairs at some office environments, finding themselves uncomfortable in minutes.

It is definitely true that some chairs can feel a lot more comfortable than others. Some chairs make it a snap to maintain a healthier upright posture, while others can stand between you and good ergonomics. We need to remember however, that it is our body that sits in a chair, and in order to improve on our own comfort ability, our attention should be focused on improving our own functioning and what we do with our body when we sit down.

So what advice can I give regarding posture and the standard task office chair? First, I would recommend very simple, basic type designs with fairly flat and firm seatpans and with backs to not force your torso into any particular shape. I would also recommend good back support and a good tilt mechanism for proper reclining and motion while moving throughout the tasks of your day. But, you need to remember that you cannot look to your chair as the primary solution to poor posture. It?s your posture that needs to learn how to change itself.

Shifting Preferences For Office Furniture

Posted by admin on June 13th, 2008

Offices are not known for swanky furniture. Rather workman like approach dots the interiors of most of the offices. The situation was not like this a few years back. The offices were considered as important as the places to live. The approach of the designers was to make office just like a second home to the employees. Employee satisfaction was uppermost in the minds of employers. This was the time when exotic Amish furniture made its way into the office interiors.

But slowly with the shift in priorities space saving became primary concern for major companies. The economics involved in establishing, locating and relocating an office had a lot to do with such a shift. The trendy and durable Amish handcrafted furniture gave way to modular furniture in the offices. The modular office furniture, also known as ‘cubicles’ found favor in the top establishment due to its easy-to-install-and-easy-to-reinstall nature. There have also been some marked changes in upholstered furniture used in offices these days. Traditional styling has made a comeback in the upholstered furniture segment. (more…)
