I took my kids to an arcade yesterday. In spite of my advanced age (from their perspective, anyway), I actually enjoy the flashing lights, electronic sounds, screams of triumph and defeat, and random jostling by excited children. It makes me feel young, and reminds me of my own fledgling video game addiction when I was their age. (I still play, just not as well as the youngsters.)
When I was tired and ready for a rest, I pulled up a vacant bar stool to sit on. Imagine my chagrin when I saw that, not only was one wheel missing, but the vinyl top was stiff, cracked, and had foam stuffing sticking out. Most of the other bar stools were in similar condition. Even though the arcade was nice, I was pretty appalled by the seating. Business owners, take note: offer sub-par seating, and you shall be judged and found wanting.
If your bar stools are looking a bit tired themselves, it’s time for an upgrade. I think backless swivel stools are great for casual settings. Just get ones that can take the beating they’ll surely get from rowdy kids and tired mothers.

Metal stools can handle some tough wear and tear. One that I like is the Robert Bateman Satellite bar stool (left). It’s available in classy black (my favorite color), has shiny chrome that would look great reflecting the crazy lights of an arcade or casino, and has a nice, wide seating area that looks thick and comfortable. Another, similar option is the 3D LS19_30SS (right) from Laytrad UK. The weatherproof ABS seat can be ordered in a variety of colors, and it’s sure to endure heavy use, inside or outdoors. Try some of these great stools, and your customers will notice – and thank you.
