Every now and then I love something uplifting, be it a good book, a feel-good movie, or just a piece of decadent dark chocolate. Uplifting breaks should be mandatory in all workplaces. (They’re like smoke breaks, but easier on the lungs.) Hey, I might be on to something here.

238194.jpgUplifting Solutions is on to something, too. They’ve announced the release of their new range of ergonomic office furniture. This furniture is based on the posture principles of the Alexander Technique. What’s the Alexander Technique? (I hope I’m not the only person who had to ask that.) It’s “the ability to make a new choice in spite of established habitual patterns by studying the kinesthetic evidence of how thinking is expressed in movement.”

Whoa.

Basically, it’s about the mind-body connection. Happy body, happy mind, happy worker. In the interest of making our bodies happy by making them comfortable and less vulnerable to repeat stress injuries, Uplifting Solutions has created height adjustable workstations, adjustable monitor arms, and special ergonomic chairs for the lab or office. Their new line of convertible flip-up table frames is available in a range of laminate finishes. The tables’ folding mechanism makes for easy storage, too.

Uplifting Solutions recommends the furniture for training situations. I think they would also make good contract hotel chairs for conference or Internet access rooms. They could be adjusted for maximum comfort during long meetings, then folded and rolled aside to open up floor space for other purposes.

For healthy workers and increased productivity, ergonomic is the way to go. Does your workplace offer ergonomic seating and tables? If so, leave a comment to let me know how it has affected your job satisfaction and productivity. Can a happier, more comfortable workforce really improve the atmosphere of your business? Uplifting Solutions thinks so.
