Even though I frequently ridicule the more outlandish furniture designs, I must confess that I secretly like them. That is, I like them when I see them out in public. I don’t think I have the courage to purchase some of these stools or bistro chairs for myself, though, which is just as well; most of them would be far better suited to commercial use anyway. That way, they can perform the function their designers intended for them, and not end up being used as receptacles for purses, motorcycle helmets, shopping bags, and missing homework assignments.
But sometimes I see a really artsy design that I just want for my very own. For example, this Brilliant Teal Martini-Style Bar Stool Set from Abracadabra. I was first attracted by the beautiful color of the ultra suede upholstery. It reminds me of the waters of the Caribbean. The darker blue reminds me of my first car, which isn’t quite so happy a memory, so I’ll stick with the teal for now.
These stools are sold in pairs, and you must specify the color when ordering. Their seats look like they’d be a great place to park your bum for a long evening of drinks and conversation with friends.
These barstools measure 22 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 39 inches high, with a seat height of 30 inches. The frame is lacquered black, which contrasts beautifully with the vivid colors of the seats (“Brilliant” teal and “Regal” blue). The stools would look gorgeous as commercial bistro furniture in a contemporary or urban setting. I can also picture them at a hip art gallery or healthy juice bar. To return to the Caribbean train of thought, they would also be very pretty in some of the seaside resorts down there. With the natural scenery as a backdrop, this “brilliant” teal would look especially fetching.
